Administration and Site Support
Administrators, executive assistants, site coordinators. These roles exist across all locations — including inside prisons — and help keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Communications and Engagement
Internal communications, media, stakeholder engagement, government services. They help us stay connected — within the organisation and with the public and communities we serve.
Digital and Data Services
IT support, systems architecture, data analytics, digital design. This team keeps our technology running and helps us use data to improve how we work.
Infrastructure and Asset Management
Property, facilities, capital projects, maintenance. They manage the spaces where our work happens — from prisons and offices to community sites.
Finance and Commercial
Budgeting, procurement, financial strategy, business partnering. They manage public funds responsibly and ensure we get the best value from our contracts and investments.
Legal, Risk and Integrity
Legal advice, privacy, and complaints. They make sure we meet our legal obligations and uphold high standards of conduct and transparency.
Māori Strategy and Cultural Capability
Te Ao Māori approaches, Māori Pathways, cultural training. This team leads our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and supports culturally responsive practice across Corrections.
Organisational Safety and Resilience
Health and safety, emergency management, business continuity. They help us prepare for disruptions and keep our people and environments safe.
Partnerships and Community
Working with iwi, NGOs, councils, and community groups. They build relationships that support reintegration, reduce harm, and reflect the needs of local communities.
People and Capability
Human resources, recruitment, learning and development, leadership, wellbeing. This group supports our workforce across the country — helping staff grow, stay safe, and feel valued in their roles.
Policy, Strategy and Research
Policy development, strategic planning, research and evaluation. This group helps shape our direction and ensures our work is backed by evidence and insight.
Programme Design and Delivery
Designing and delivering rehabilitation, education, and reintegration programmes. Roles are based in prisons, community sites, and national teams.
Internships
Our internship programme offers university students the opportunity to undertake work related to their studies, and in turn gain first-hand experience of the public sector and the work we undertake.
Kaitūao - Volunteers
Volunteering within Ara Poutama Aotearoa supports our goal of reducing re-offending, by assisting people to meet their rehabilitative needs and transition back into the community.
